The north-eastern ‘Syntaxial Bend’ was formed near
- a.Nanga Parvat
- b.Sahyadri
- c.Namcha Barwa
- d.Amarkantak
Answer: (C) Namcha Barwa
At its eastern end the Himalaya bends sharply southwards around Namcha Barwa, where the Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) takes a great U-turn before entering India; this is the north-eastern syntaxial bend. Nanga Parbat marks the north-western syntaxial bend, around which the Indus turns. The Sahyadri is another name for the Western Ghats. Amarkantak in the Maikal hills is the source of the Narmada and the Son.
