Which ethnic group first entered into India?
- a.Negrito
- b.Proto Australoid
- c.Mongoloid
- d.Nordic
Answer: (A) Negrito
In B. S. Guha's classification of India's racial groups, the Negritos are regarded as the earliest people to enter India; their traits survive among the Andaman tribes such as the Onge, Jarawa and Great Andamanese. The Proto-Australoids came next and form the base of many central Indian tribes. Mongoloid people live mainly in the Himalaya and the North-East. The Nordics, associated with the Indo-Aryan speakers, were among the latest arrivals.
