Answer: (D) Medinipur
The Tamralipta Jatiya Sarkar, a parallel national government formed during the Quit India Movement, was set up at Tamluk in Medinipur district on 17 December 1942 under Satish Chandra Samanta. It ran its own departments and a volunteer force, the Vidyut Vahini, until 1944. Matangini Hazra was shot while leading a procession to the Tamluk police station in September 1942. Bankura, Birbhum and Malda had no such parallel government.
