Q129
ArithmeticPercentage, Profit & Loss
A retailer professes to sell his goods at cost price. If using a false weight, he still gains 25%, find the weight he uses in place of 1kg.
  1. a.200 grams
  2. b.600 grams
  3. c.750 grams
  4. d.800 grams

Answer: (D) 800 grams

He charges for 1000 g but gives w g, and his gain is (1000 − w) ÷ w = 25%. So 1000 = 1·25w and w = 800 g. 750 g would give a gain of $33\frac{1}{3}$%.
