Q69
ArithmeticPercentage, Profit & Loss
A shopkeeper purchased a chair marked at ₹ 800, at two successive discounts of 10% and 15% respectively. He spent ₹ 28 on transporation and sold the chair for ₹ 800. His gain percent is:
- a.40%
- b.30%
- c.25%
- d.14%
Answer: (C) 25%
Purchase price = 800 × 0·9 × 0·85 = ₹ 612, and with ₹ 28 transport the cost is ₹ 640. Selling at ₹ 800 gives a gain of ₹ 160, i.e. 160 ÷ 640 = 25%. Ignoring the transport cost would give about 30·7%.
