The Dhaka Anushilan Samiti was founded in 1906 by Pulin Behari Das and became the strongest revolutionary organisation of East Bengal (Barrah dacoity, 1908). The parent Anushilan Samiti of Calcutta was started in 1902 by Pramathanath Mitra with Satish Chandra Basu. Prafulla Chaki took part in the Muzaffarpur attempt (1908), Sachindranath Sanyal founded the Hindustan Republican Association (1924) and wrote 'Bandi Jiwan', and Jatindranath Mukherjee (Bagha Jatin) died after the Balasore fight (1915).
