The Muppandal Wind Farm in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, with an installed capacity of about 1,500 MW, is India's largest operational onshore wind farm, helped by winds funnelled through the Aralvaimozhi (Aramboly) pass of the Western Ghats. The Jaisalmer Wind Park in Rajasthan (about 1,064 MW) is second. Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are the two leading states in total installed wind capacity, with Gujarat having moved ahead in recent years; Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh follow. India ranks fourth in the world in installed wind power.
