In Census 2011, Puducherry had the highest sex ratio among the Union Territories - 1,037 females per 1,000 males - second in the country only to Kerala (1,084), these being the only two states/UTs above 1,000. Lakshadweep had 946, Chandigarh 818, and Daman and Diu the lowest in India at 618, because of male in-migration for industry. The all-India figure was 943 (child sex ratio 919) and West Bengal's 950; Haryana was the lowest among the states (879).
