Kurnool-Kudapa Canal is taken off from the following river:
- a.Cauvery
- b.Krishna
- c.Tapti
- d.Tungabhadra
Answer: (D) Tungabhadra
The Kurnool-Cuddapah (K.C.) Canal, built in the 1860s by the Madras Irrigation and Canal Company and later taken over by the government, takes off from the Sunkesula anicut (barrage) on the Tungabhadra river near Kurnool and links the Tungabhadra with the Penna (Pennar), irrigating the Rayalaseema districts of Kurnool and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. The Tungabhadra is the largest tributary of the Krishna, which is why option (B) is tempting. The Cauvery has the Grand Anicut (Kallanai) and the Mettur canals; the Tapti has the Ukai and Kakrapar projects.
