Punarbhava and Atrai are the distributaries of the following river:
- a.Torsa
- b.Teesta
- c.Jaldhaka
- d.Raidak
Answer: (B) Teesta
Before 1787 the Teesta flowed south from Jalpaiguri in three channels - the Karatoya, the Punarbhaba and the Atrai (the name Tista is derived from Trisrota, 'three streams') - to join the Ganga-Padma system. The great flood of 1787 made it abandon these channels and turn south-east to join the Brahmaputra (Jamuna) in present-day Bangladesh. The Punarbhaba and Atrai still flow through Dakshin Dinajpur (Gangarampur, Balurghat) into Bangladesh. The Torsa, Jaldhaka and Raidak are separate Bhutan-Dooars rivers flowing to the Brahmaputra system.
