The Dandi (Salt) March - Gandhi and 78 followers walked about 385 km (240 miles) from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi between 12 March and 6 April 1930 - launched the Civil Disobedience Movement by breaking the salt law. The Swadeshi-Boycott movement (1905) arose from the Partition of Bengal, the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-22) was called off after Chauri Chaura, and the Quit India Movement began on 8-9 August 1942 with the 'Do or Die' call.
