The largest glacier of India is
- a.Pindari
- b.Gangotri
- c.Siachen
- d.Hispar
Answer: (C) Siachen
Siachen, about 76 km long in the eastern Karakoram (Ladakh), is the largest glacier in India and the second longest outside the polar regions after Fedchenko in Tajikistan; it is the source of the Nubra river. Gangotri (about 30 km, Uttarakhand) is the source of the Bhagirathi at Gaumukh, and Pindari is a small Kumaon glacier feeding the Pindar river. Hispar (about 49 km) and its neighbour Biafo lie in the Karakoram of Gilgit-Baltistan, under Pakistan's control. In Sikkim the largest glacier is Zemu.
