Manik Saha was appointed as the Chief Minister of Tripura in May 2022, replacing Biplab Kumar Deb who resigned. A BJP state unit president and dentist by profession, Saha is also a Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura. He went on to lead the BJP to victory in the 2023 Tripura elections.
