Which sportsperson has been named as the 'BBC Sports Personality World Sportstar of the Year' for 2022?
- a.Roger Federer
- b.Neeraj Chopra
- c.Lionel Messi
- d.Serena Williams
Answer: (C) Lionel Messi
At the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards in December 2022, the "World Sport Star of the Year" award went to Lionel Messi, who had just led Argentina to the FIFA World Cup title in Qatar (final against France won on penalties; Messi took the Golden Ball and Kylian Mbappé the Golden Boot). The main Sports Personality of the Year award that evening went to the English footballer Beth Mead. Roger Federer and Serena Williams both retired in 2022, and Neeraj Chopra won the Diamond League final that year, but none of them received this award.
