Answer: (A) Godavari
The Godavari, rising at Trimbakeshwar near Nashik and flowing about 1,465 km to the Bay of Bengal, has the largest river basin in peninsular India and is called the Dakshin Ganga. The Narmada is the largest west-flowing river, running through a rift valley between the Vindhyas and the Satpuras. The Cauvery, rising in Kodagu, is fed by both the south-west and north-east monsoons. The Mahanadi has the Hirakud dam, one of the longest dams in the world.
