History of IndiaDelhi Sultanate
The first woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate was
- a.Rabeya
- b.Rokeya
- c.Razia
- d.Zubeida
Answer: (C) Razia
Razia Sultan, daughter of Iltutmish, ruled Delhi from 1236 to 1240 and was the first and only woman to sit on the throne of the Delhi Sultanate. She upset the Turkish nobles (the Chahalgani) by favouring the Abyssinian Jamaluddin Yaqut. Rokeya is Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, the Bengali educationist and author of 'Sultana's Dream'. The other two names have no link with the Sultanate.
