Q16
ArithmeticSimple & Compound Interest
A man lent ₹ 2,000 partly at 5% and the balance at 4%. If he receives ₹ 92 towards annual interest, find the amount lent at 5%.
- a.₹ 800
- b.₹ 900
- c.₹ 1,000
- d.₹ 1,200
Answer: (D) ₹ 1,200
Let x be lent at 5%; then 0·05x + 0·04(2000 − x) = 92, i.e. 80 + 0·01x = 92, so x = ₹ 1,200. Check: 60 + 32 = ₹ 92. ₹ 800 would give only ₹ 88 of interest.
