Q54
ArithmeticAverages & Ages
The average of runs of a cricket player of 10 innings was 32. How many runs must he make in his next innings so as to increase his average of runs by 4?
  1. a.76
  2. b.70
  3. c.4
  4. d.2

Answer: (A) 76

He has 10 × 32 = 320 runs; an average of 36 over 11 innings needs 396 runs. So the next innings must bring 396 − 320 = 76 runs. Option C, 4, is only the rise wanted in the average, not the runs he must score.
