Answer: (A) increase

Adding a non-volatile solute such as salt lowers the vapour pressure of water, so the solution must be heated above 100°C to boil - this is elevation of boiling point. The same solute lowers the freezing point (depression of freezing point), which is why salt is spread on icy roads and used in freezing mixtures. Both are colligative properties, which depend on the number of dissolved particles.
