Which country celebrated its First Gay Marriage on 1 October 2017?
  1. a.Germany
  2. b.Austria
  3. c.Italy
  4. d.Spain

Answer: (A) Germany

Germany's law allowing same-sex marriage, passed by the Bundestag on 30 June 2017, came into force on 1 October 2017, and the first such marriages were solemnised that day in Berlin. For comparison: the Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalise it (2001), Spain did so in 2005, Austria from 2019, and Italy allows only civil unions (2016).
