History of India
Who introduced Market Control Policy?
- a.Firoz Shah Tughlaq
- b.Muhammad bin Tughlaq
- c.Alauddin Khalji
- d.Sikandar Lodi
Answer: (C) Alauddin Khalji
Alauddin Khalji (1296-1316) fixed the prices of grain, cloth, horses, cattle and slaves so that a large standing army could be maintained on low pay; the markets were supervised by the Diwan-i-Riyasat and the Shahna-i-Mandi, and he also introduced dagh (branding of horses) and chehra (descriptive rolls). Firoz Shah Tughlaq is known for canals and the Diwan-i-Khairat, Muhammad bin Tughlaq for token currency and the Diwan-i-Kohi, and Sikandar Lodi for founding Agra and the Gaz-i-Sikandari.
