Simon Commission of 1927 was boycotted because
  1. a.there was no Indian member in the commission
  2. b.it supported the Muslim League
  3. c.Congress felt that the people of India are entitled to Swaraj
  4. d.None of the above

Answer: (A) there was no Indian member in the commission

The Indian Statutory Commission under Sir John Simon was appointed in November 1927 with seven members, all British (Clement Attlee was one of them), to report on the working of the 1919 reforms; the exclusion of Indians was seen as an insult and led to the boycott. It landed at Bombay on 3 February 1928 to the cry 'Simon Go Back'; Lala Lajpat Rai was fatally injured in the lathi charge at Lahore. The Indian answer was the Nehru Report (1928).
