Murshidabad district is bisected into two halves by
- a.Mahananda river
- b.Jalangi river
- c.Bhagirathi river
- d.Mathabhanga river
Answer: (C) Bhagirathi river
The Bhagirathi flows from north to south through Murshidabad and divides it into two nearly equal parts: Rarh on the west (older, higher, lateritic land) and Bagri on the east (low, fertile new alluvium between the Bhagirathi, Padma and Jalangi). The Jalangi flows along the eastern side into Nadia, and the Mahananda and Mathabhanga belong to Malda and Nadia respectively.
