  1. a.Purba Medinipur

Answer: (A) Purba Medinipur

In Census 2011 Purba Medinipur recorded the highest literacy rate of any district in West Bengal, about 87%, ahead of Kolkata in both the provisional and final figures. Kolkata, a fully urban district, came a close second and is the tempting option. North 24 Parganas and Howrah followed, both around 83–85%. The state's overall literacy rate in 2011 was about 76–77%.
